Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

Allie's Wedding Bells 5k was awesome. And I got to meet the amazing Bonnie. Loved it all. Except for the part where I learned about what it feels like to try to run faster than I should. Eric and I had a plan to split the 5k in half, but I got all caught up in the excitement and ran my first lap and a half in a pace that's about 3 minutes faster than I usually run, so I kind of tanked and ended up forcing Eric into a switching-more-frequently plan (and made him run more than me). Also I forgot to stop my watch when I wasn't running (so I just guessed at a race time). But it's fun to watch it on the garmin player.

Afterward Eric and I did a mile and a half around the park with Elliott. It was hot. We'll probably go out again later this evening.

PM: Dry Canyon with Eric and Elliott. Probably my hardest hike so far (at least the first mile) - I don't know if that's because we went up the steep part (the way we came down was a lot more Catherine-friendly) or because pretty much all of my miles this week were since Thursday. It was beautiful, though.

I was great to see you guys this morning! As a throw back to yesterdays post, I know what you mean. Those kind of injuries are SO fickle, and I can't say that I don't think about it EVERY run I do. Is the road too slanted? Am I with good form? Will it hit me when I think I've got it in the bag? grrr...sometimes I'd prefer a break with a straight forward plan to get back.

Thanks Smooth!

RAD - exactly. I hate not knowing what to plan for, and I don't like feeling like it could just pop up out of nowhere again.
